Autumn Term Session Plans

Half Term 1

Week 1 – each group will do two of three pieces.
Warm up: Choice.
Piece 1: Floor, looking towards handstands.
Piece 2: Low bar, strength in support & circling forwards.
Piece 3: Beam, confidence & skills.

Week 2 – Each group will do the one piece they haven’t yet done from the previous week.
Warm up: Springboard warm up.
Piece 1: Floor, looking towards handstands.
Piece 2: Low bar, strength in support & circling forwards.
Piece 3: Beam, confidence & skills on e.g. bunny jumps, rolls, handstands, cartwheels.

Week 3 – Vault week.
Warm up: Choice.
Various vaults.

Week 4 – Stick it week.
Warm up: Choice.
Two pieces with various returns all with a focus on sticking landings.

Week 5 – Each group will do two of three pieces.
Warm up: choice.
Piece 1: P-bars, basic swings and basic dismounts.
Piece 2: Pommel, introduction to double leg circles.
Piece 3: Rings, swings, and dismounts.

Week 6 – Each group will do the one piece they haven’t yet done from the previous week.
Warm up: Tower game.
Piece 1: P-bars, basic swings and basic dismounts.
Piece 2: Pommel, introduction to double leg circles.
Piece 3: Rings, swings, and dismounts.

*Based on the equipment and the area of the gym we use during the session, our warm up for the gymnasts are adapted for this.
